In March 2019 Singaraja City recorded inflation of 0.35 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI 2012 = 100) of 143.12. The calendar year inflation rate was 0.59 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (March 2019 to March 2018 or YoY) was 0.97 percent.
Inflation (m to m) is indicated by an increase in the index in four expenditure groups namely group I (food stuff) by 1.06 percent; group II (prepared food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco) by 0.46 percent; group IV (clothing) by 0.23 percent and group V (health) by 0.11 percent. While the groups that recorded a decrease in index or deflation were group VII (transport, communication and financial services) by -0.16 percent; group III (housing, water, electricity and fuel) by -0.14 percent and group VI (education, recreation and sports) by -0.08 percent.
Commodities recorded contributing to or contributing to inflation in March 2019 include: ground coffee, onions, bean sprouts, bananas, instant dry noodles, apples, bottled water, cobs / ambu, beans, garlic and salak.
From 82 CPI cities, 51 cities experienced inflation and 31 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Ambon (Maluku) by 0.86 percent and the lowest in Bekasi (West Java) and Tangerang (Banten) each by 0.01 percent. The deepest deflation was recorded in Tual (Maluku) by -3.03 percent and the lowest was recorded in Palembang (South Sumatra), Batam (Riau Islands) and Sampit (West Kalimantan) each by -0.01 percent. If ranked from the highest inflation, then Singaraja ranks 8th out of 51 cities experiencing inflation.
