In April 2021 Denpasar City recorded inflation as high as 0.46 percent as indicated by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) from 105.30 in March 2021 to 105.78 in April 2021. Meanwhile, the inflation rate for the calendar year (year to date/ytd) and year-to-year inflation rates (April 2021 against April 2020 or YoY) were recorded as high as 1.50 percent and 1.30 percent, respectively.
Of the eleven expenditure groups, seven expenditure groups experienced inflation, namely group IV (equipment, equipment, and routine household maintenance) as high as 3.64 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 0.81 percent; group I (food, beverages, and tobacco) as high as 0.64 percent; group VIII (recreation, sports, and culture) as high as 0.14 percent; group X (providing food and beverages/restaurants) as high as 0.08 percent; group VI (transportation) as high as 0.07 percent; and group V (health) as high as 0.07 percent. Meanwhile, three expenditure groups experienced deflation, namely group IX (education) of 0.23 percent; group II (clothing and footwear) as deep as 0.07 percent; and group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel) as deep as 0.06 percent. One other expenditure group recorded no change in index or was stagnant, namely group VII (information, communication, and financial services).
Commodities that have contributed or contributed to inflation in April 2021 include canang sari, broiler meat, oranges, bananas, gold jewelry, cooking oil, young jackfruit, apples, shampoo, and tissue.
Of the 90 CPI cities, 72 cities experienced inflation and 18 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Kotamobagu City as high as 1.31 percent, while the lowest inflation was recorded in Yogyakarta City as high as 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the deepest deflation was recorded in Jayapura City as deep as 1.26 percent, while the shallowest deflation was recorded in Tanjung Pandan City as deep as 0.02 percent. If sorted from the highest inflation rate, Denpasar City ranks 16th out of 72 cities experiencing inflation.
