In September 2021 Denpasar City was recorded to experience inflation as high as 0.19 percent as indicated by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) from 104.83 in August 2021 to 105.03 in September 2021. Meanwhile, the inflation rate for the calendar year (year to date/ytd) and year to year inflation rates (September 2021 to September 2020 or YoY) were recorded as high as 0.78 percent and 1.35 percent, respectively.
Of the eleven expenditure groups, five expenditure groups experienced inflation, namely: group IV (equipment, equipment, and routine household maintenance) as high as 3.72 percent; group VIII (recreation, sports, and culture) as high as 0.80 percent; group II (clothing and footwear) as high as 0.22 percent; group IX (education) as high as 0.13 percent; and group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel) as high as 0.08 percent. Meanwhile, four other expenditure groups recorded deflation, namely: group V (health) as deep as 0.42 percent; group VI (transportation) as deep as 0.28 percent; group I (food, beverages, and tobacco) as deep as 0.26 percent; and group XI (personal care and other services) as deep as 0.22 percent. Two other groups recorded no change in index or stagnant, namely group VII (information, communication, and financial services) and group X (providing food and beverages/restaurants).
Of the 90 CPI cities, 34 cities experienced inflation and 56 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Pangkal Pinang City as high as 0.60 percent, while the lowest inflation was recorded in Surakarta City as high as 0.01 percent. If sorted from the highest inflation, Denpasar City ranks 19th out of 34 cities experiencing inflation.
