Abstract

In September 2017 the city of Denpasar recorded a deflation of 0.33 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 125.64. The calendar year inflation rate of 2.06 percent. Year-on-year inflation rate (YoY) of 2.86 percent. • Deflation was indicated by the drop in index in the foodstuff category by 1.65 percent; transportation, communication and financial services group by 0.56 percent; as well as the education, recreation and sports group by 0.03 percent. • The recorded commodities contributing to deflation in September 2017 include: onion, chicken meat, garlic, cayenne pepper, red peppers, and air freight rates. The recorded commodities have increased prices and withstood the rate of deflation, among others: gold jewelry, filter clove cigarettes, oranges, and rice. • Of 82 cities recorded 32 cities experienced deflation and 50 cities experienced inflation. The highest deflation was recorded in Manado (North Sulawesi) at 1.04 percent and the lowest in Tembilahan (Riau) by 0.01 percent. The highest inflation was recorded in Tual (Maluku) at 1.59 percent and the lowest inflation in Depok (West Java) and Mamuju (West Sulawesi) were 0.01 percent. • If sorted from the highest deflation, then Denpasar ranks 12th out of 32 cities experienced
