In October 2018 the city of Denpasar recorded a deflation of 0.10 percent with the Consumer Price Index (2012 CPI = 100) of 130.05. The inflation rate for the calendar year (January - October 2018) was recorded at 2.26 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (October 2018 to October 2017 or YoY) was recorded at 3.56 percent.
The three expenditure groups recorded deflation, namely the foodstuffs group by 0.87 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel by 0.14 percent; and the health group by 0.93 percent. Four expenditure groups experienced inflation, namely the clothing group by 0.73 percent; the transportation, communication and financial services group by 0.52 percent; processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco by 0.14 percent; and the education, recreation and sports group by 0.06 percent.
Commodities recorded as contributing or contributing to deflation in October 2018 include: chicken meat, rice, shallots, watermelon, household fuels, cement, and hand body lotion.
Of the 82 CPI cities, 16 cities experienced deflation and 66 cities experienced inflation. The deepest deflation was recorded in Bengkulu (Bengkulu) of 0.74 percent and was undermined in Tangerang (Banten) by 0.01 percent. The highest inflation was recorded in Palu (Central Sulawesi) of 2.27 percent while the lowest inflation was recorded in Cilegon (Banten) of 0.01 percent. If sorted from the deepest deflation, Denpasar ranks 11th out of 16 cities experiencing deflation.
