In November 2018, Denpasar City experienced inflation of 0.34 percent with the Consumer Price Index (2012 CPI = 100) of 130.49. The inflation rate for the calendar year (January - November 2018) was recorded at 2.61 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (November 2018 to November 2017 or YoY) was recorded at 3.71 percent.
Six expenditure groups experienced inflation, namely clothing group by 0.74 percent; education, recreation and sports group at 0.68 percent; the transportation, communication and financial services group by 0.44 percent; foodstuffs group of 0.43 percent; processed foods, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco by 0.27 percent; and the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group by 0.19 percent. One expenditure group recorded deflation, namely health by 0.32 percent.
Commodities recorded as contributing or contributing to inflation in November 2018 include: tuition fees, tariffs for PAM drinking water, non-subsidized gasoline, gold jewelery, pork, rice, shallots, and papaya.
Of the 82 CPI cities, 70 cities experienced inflation and 12 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Merauke (Papua) of 2.05 percent while the lowest inflation was recorded in Balikpapan (East Kalimantan) of 0.01 percent. The deepest deflation was recorded in Medan (North Sumatra) of 0.64 percent and was undermined in Pangkal Pinang (Bangka Belitung) and Pematang Siantar (North Sumatra) by 0.01 percent. If sorted from the highest inflation, Denpasar ranks 33rd out of 70 cities experiencing inflation.
