In June 2022 Denpasar City recorded inflation as high as 0.72 percent as indicated by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) from 109.90 in May 2022 to 110.69 in June 2022. Meanwhile, the inflation rate for the calendar year ( year to date/ytd) and year-on-year inflation rates (June 2022 to June 2021 or year on year/YoY) were recorded as high as 4.11 percent and 5.64 percent, respectively.
Of the eleven expenditure groups, seven expenditure groups experienced inflation, namely: group I (food, beverages, and tobacco) at 2.19 percent; group IV (equipment, equipment, and routine household maintenance) by 1.52 percent; group X (providing food and beverages/restaurants) by 0.63 percent; group V (health) by 0.50 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) by 0.35 percent; group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel) by 0.07 percent; group VII (information, communication, and financial services) by 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, three other expenditure groups recorded deflation, namely group VI (transportation) of -0.33 percent; group II (clothing and footwear) by -0.26 percent; and group VIII (recreation, sports, and culture) by -0.05 percent. Meanwhile, one other expenditure group recorded no change in index or was stagnant, namely group IX (education).
Of the 90 cities observed for inflation, 85 cities experienced inflation and 5 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Gunungsitoli (North Sumatra) as high as 2.72 percent, while the deepest deflation was recorded in Kendari City (Southeast Sulawesi) as deep as 0.61 percent. If sorted from the highest inflation rate, Denpasar City with an inflation of 0.72 percent ranks 46th out of 85 cities experiencing inflation.
