Abstract

In August 2022 the CPI of the Combined City of Denpasar and Singaraja City was recorded to have experienced a deflation of 0.23 percent as indicated by a decrease in the Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) from 112.11 in July 2022 to 111.85 in August 2022. Meanwhile , the August 2022 calendar year inflation rate (year to date/ytd) was 4.89 percent. The year-on-year inflation rate (August 2022 against August 2021 or YoY ) was recorded as high as 6.38 percent.

Deflation occurred due to a decrease in the price of public consumption goods/services as indicated by the decline in the CPI for four expenditure groups, namely: group I (food, beverages and tobacco) by 2.15 percent; group VI (transportation) as deep as 1.32 percent; group V (health) as deep as 0.06 percent; and group VII (information, communication and financial services) with a depth of 0.03 percent. Meanwhile, seven other groups recorded inflation, namely group IV (equipment, equipment and routine household maintenance) as high as 2.48 percent; group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel) as high as 1.34 percent; group X (providing food and drinks/restaurants) as high as 0.47 percent; group VIII (recreation, sports and culture) as high as 0.46 percent; group IX (education) as high as 0.42 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 0.33 percent; and group II (clothing and footwear) as high as 0.29 percent.
