Abstract

In January 2023, the CPI of Denpasar City and Singaraja City recorded inflation as high as 0.66 percent as indicated by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) from 113.25 in December 2022 to 114.00 in January 2023. Meanwhile Meanwhile, the inflation rate for the calendar year (year to date/ytd) for January 2023 is 0.66 percent. The year-on-year inflation rate (January 2023 against January 2022 or YoY) was recorded as high as 5.81 percent.

Inflation occurred due to an increase in the price of public consumption goods/services as indicated by an increase in the CPI for six expenditure groups, namely: group I (food, beverages and tobacco) as high as 1.80 percent; group IV (equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance) as high as 1.20 percent; group VIII (recreation, sports and culture) as high as 0.98 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 0.85 percent; group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel) as high as 0.32 percent; and group X (providing food and drinks/restaurants) as high as 0.12 percent.

Of the 90 CPI cities, 80 cities experienced inflation and 10 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Gunungsitoli City (North Sumatra) as high as 1.87 percent, while the lowest inflation was recorded in Manokwari City (West Papua) as high as 0.03 percent. The deepest deflation was recorded in the City of Timika (Papua) 0.60 percent, while the shallowest deflation was recorded in the City of Tanjung Selor (North Kalimantan) 0.04 percent. If sorted from the highest inflation, Denpasar City ranks 28th and Singaraja City ranks 10th out of 80 cities experiencing inflation.
