Abstract

In September 2023, Denpasar City was recorded as experiencing deflation of 0.03 percent as indicated by a decrease in the Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) from 114.96 in August to 114.93 in September 2023. Meanwhile, the inflation rate for the calendar year (2023). to date/ytd) and the year-on-year inflation rate (September 2023 to September 2022 or year on year/yoy) was recorded as high as 1.56 percent and 2.31 percent.

Of the eleven expenditure groups, three expenditure groups were recorded as experiencing deflation (m to m), namely group I (food, beverages and tobacco) at 0.24 percent, group VIII (recreation, sports and culture) at 0.19 percent, and group IV (equipment, equipment and routine household maintenance) was 0.16 percent. Meanwhile, six other expenditure groups recorded inflation, namely group XI (personal care and other services) at 0.19 percent, group ) of 0.13 percent, group II (clothing and footwear) of 0.03 percent, group VI (transportation) of 0.02 percent, and group III (housing, water, electricity and household fuel) of 0 .01 percent. Meanwhile, group V (health) and group IX (education) were recorded as having experienced no change in index or were recorded as stagnant.

Of the 90 cities monitored for national inflation, 73 cities experienced inflation and 17 other cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Tanjung Pandan (Bangka Belitung) at 1.41 percent, while the deepest deflation was recorded in Manokwari (West Papua) at 1.70 percent. If we sort the deepest deflation, Denpasar City, with deflation as deep as 0.03 percent, is in 17th place out of 17 cities experiencing deflation.
