Abstract

In October 2018 the city of Singaraja recorded a deflation of 0.04 percent with the Consumer Price Index (2012 CPI = 100) of 140.95. The inflation rate for the calendar year (January - October 2018) was recorded at 0.92 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (October 2018 to October 2017 or YoY) was recorded at 3.89 percent.
Deflation is indicated by the decline in the index in the three expenditure groups, namely the foodstuffs group by 0.64 percent; processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group by 0.07 percent; as well as housing, water, electricity and fuel by 0.03 percent. While the groups that recorded an increase in index or inflation were the transportation, communication and financial services group of 0.95 percent; clothing group by 0.56 percent; the education, recreation and sports group by 0.31 percent and the health group by 0.27 percent.
Commodities recorded as contributing or contributing to deflation in October 2018 include: cayenne pepper, shallots, broiler meat, cucumbers, beans, chicken eggs, household fuels, squid fish and skipjack / scales.
Of the 82 CPI cities, 16 cities experienced deflation and 66 cities experienced inflation. The deepest deflation was recorded in Bengkulu (Bengkulu) of 0.74 percent and was undermined in Tangerang (Banten) by 0.01 percent. The highest inflation was recorded in Palu (Central Sulawesi) of 2.27 percent while the lowest inflation was recorded in Cilegon (Banten) of 0.01 percent. If sorted from the highest deflation, Singaraja ranks 14th out of 16 cities experiencing deflation.
