In August 2018, Singaraja City experienced an inflation of 0.20 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI 2012 = 100) of 142.02. The inflation rate for the calendar year (January - August 2018) was recorded at 1.69 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (August 2018 against August 2017 or YoY) was recorded at 3.47 percent.
Five expenditure groups recorded inflation, namely the education, recreation and sports group at 8.37 percent; health group by 0.31 percent; processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco groups by 0.09 percent; clothing group by 0.06 percent and transportation, communication and financial services group by 0.02 percent. Two expenditure groups recorded deflation, namely the housing, water, electricity and fuel group by 1.25 percent and the foodstuff group by 0.03 percent.
Commodities listed contributing to or contributing to inflation in August 2018 include: high school fees, junior high school fees, elementary school fees, house rent, house contracts, vegetable tomatoes and chicken meat race.
Of the 82 CPI cities, 30 cities experienced inflation and 52 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Tarakan (North Kalimantan) by 0.62 percent and the lowest was in Medan and Padang Sidimpuan (North Sumatra), each at 0.01 percent. The highest deflation was recorded in Bau-Bau (North Sulawesi) by 2.49 percent while the lowest deflation was recorded in Jember (East Java) by 0.01 percent. When sorted from the highest inflation, Singaraja was ranked 14th out of 30 cities that experienced inflation.
